Just got back from 2020.  Just me or is it weird the skyline looks pretty much the same?  Thought there'd be more growth:

The ubiquity of office buildings in Uptown can make it seem sterile to most. However, whenever I wander around Uptown under thr guise of a nosey, infinitely-curious vagabond I always find something by which I am charmed.

I went inside the Johnston Building at 212 S Tryon St, built 1924.

The inside is beautiful and reminds me of a time when class was small-scale and modest (at least compared to latter 20th Century lobbies and towers).

I didn't have time to explore the other accessible floors, but I recommend a glance next time you walk by! 

My apologies for some of the blur, I was in a bit of a rush amidst my wanderlust...

^^^ My company banks at 5/3 so I go in there a good bit.  Our historical skyscrapers which we have 4-5 depending on how you count uptown are just buried in much taller new buildings. Johnston Building is a great building. 

Below is a photo showing 5 cranes  you have my permission to email this to the Seattle Times writer and say "KJ took this in one shot come see us from Seattle we have nonstop flights and KJ will give him a tour of our cranes for gratis."

I guess this is as good a place as any to post this picture because it's from today.  But I'm wondering what Bakari Sellers' connection is to Charlotte.  It seems that most of the time when he's on TV (which is a lot), he's being broadcast from Charlotte.

This needs to be our future NFL or MLB site. So much space over there. I know there is a business over there but there are literally massive grassy lots just fenced up.

That honestly seems like the most realistic space for a new NFL stadium. That or Fort Mill(kidding).

That business has no business being in that location.  Why have they not cashed out.  Their buildings are basically all warehouse types.   Do they own all that land in that crescent formed by Morehead and the highways?

Every time we make the swing around 277 there, that is all I can think about. What a waste of space and the perfect place for a sports complex. Put the hypothetical new stadium (after 2030) closer to the city on that block and put the sea of tailgate parking up against the interstate. I’m not a fan of parking lots, but come on, that’s a BIG part of the experience for a lot of fans. Use the old location to extend uptown’s growth. At least they’d be out of site.

I just hope our current stadium at least hits the 30 year old mark first. Anything less would be a waste.

Fair point, but my counter is:

1) a sports venue shouldn't monopolize any more prime Uptown space than they already are.

2) at the same time, it also doesn't serve the whole population the way it should to have a venue at a remote site, unless it's immediately on a transit line. 

So I feel like this is the right compromise between those two.

...of course it's all theoretical.
