The element I hate most is the terrible clock tower--almost every time a new clock tower is built anywhere, IMO they range somewhere from cheap to ridiculous in appearance--but the styling of this clock and the other courtyard features is dated, bad '90s. My personal wish is that they'd build a narrow, but relatively tall, corner building here--narrow to preserve the majority of the actual central area, and tall to both make such a building viable with sufficient lease-able floor space, as well as making a dramatic appearance at the corner. I realize there's a parking garage underneath that might make such construction impossible, but in my Perfect Charlotte, this corner would have a radical overhaul...  

What do you bet they tear down that clock about 2 years before 90's aesthetic gains appreciation as historic.

Don't make me start another Save the Clock Tower movement.  My last one was quite successful at 1100 South Tryon.   I like that plaza and the old circa 1980s clock tower.

funny you mention this as I found another clock tower that needs saving.   The Ballantyne Golf Club clock tower at the driving range near the Lodge.  With all the redevelopment plans planned they need to save this clock tower.  Northwoods find a place for it!    Save the Ballantyne Clock tower!  Save the Wells Fargo clock tower!   #SaveCharlotteClocks
