There is a crane taking down THE crane at the ZOM apartment building. Unfortunately, the camera's quality is not what it used to be (was never all that good to begin with) so it won't make much of a difference having that crane gone from in front of the skyline.

It’s crazy looking at that shot. I was on the upper floors of 3 First Union  (now 3 Wells) back in the day and looked down on that side of Uptown from my office. It is truly amazing when you look at this side of town now, how much has been built. Heck I remember when the view didn’t even have the Westin (or NASCAR HOF for that matter). Amazing!

They should incorporate that little hut into the project just for KJ! That little parking hut is a long standing structure and should qualify as historic landmark. Ha!

Its funny to me that we both took photos on the same day 9 years.  More than likely free museum day like on a Saturday from Bechtler or Mint.

Beautiful & historic photos by @KJHburg and @eastsider  of the Grand Opening of the Mint Museum Uptown which was celebrated on October 1-3, 2010.  Admission was free and more than 17,000 people were welcomed by the Mint at its new facility Uptown designed by the renowned architectural firm, Machado & Silvetti.  The Mint was the last building to be completed in Charlotte’s Levine Center for the Arts, which also includes the DEC, The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, The Knight Theater, and The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Art & Culture.
