Took this one a few months ago in Romare Park. Just a rock with some writing on it but I found it endearing. Our little town made an impression on someone.

Looks like city government, courthouses, etc, which would have been moved across the street to where they are today.

Across 4th street.

That block has always been City-County services of all types.  Generally those buildings had lower (lowest) floor for places citizens frequented and upper floors for administrative, accounting and other maintenance of municipal activities. Elections, register of deeds, clerk of court, jurors and such on lowest floor(s) and the rest upper.

The current courthouse between 3d and 4th streets was designed by Harry Wolf, a "star" architect in Charlotte and was quite the architectural sensation at the time

Nice! I was really hoping somebody got a photo of the sunset this evening. From Brevard/Davidson it looked as if uptown was on fire. I got some pretty terrible shots from the Matheson bridge. 

My photos are doodoo, I know. But I was being irresponsible to get these. They in no way do the sunset justice either. It was gorgeous.

^Man, that last picture really shows how cool it could have been if our park encompassed the entire rectangular space from the baseball stadium, romare, ascent/parking lots. Could be our own mini central park. But anyways, once FNB is finished, love how multi-dimensional the skyline is becoming and how it's venturing off the tryon axis.

The Allen Steam Plant on Lake Wyle is sometimes seen in photos from this orientation, as here. Steam release on a cool and/or dry day shows a cloud of moisture rising and no wind to shear it.

^That's actually the Catawba Nuclear Station.

The Allen Station is further up the river just west of the Airport.

my friend took this a week ago down in the Montford area.   It shows the new Novel Montford apartments and a great view of the tree canopy and the skyline.

never have seen this view of the skyline from the LoSo site until today.  Those office buildings will have a great skyline views.

from the westside another great skyline view.   Notice how the newer additions have filled in the skyline and more to come.  Today from the westside. 

Notice the Southend skyline shot and how impactful the 11 story Vantage Southend LendingTree is on the skyline.
