This was put together by Wachovia as a promo. Notice all the prominent ‘Wachovia’ branches featured amongst local landmarks. Very cool.

I figured the creator just sold slots on a first come-first serve basis to whichever businesses wanted to be a sponsor. WBT is also featured prominently. The artist was Tom Dodds and there are references online about it being the “Wachovia” map.

Another interesting thing about this map- the artist or illustrator made maps like this for individual cities in the region too. Growing up, I had one of Shelby. I’ve also seen one of Gastonia. I have no idea where mine is now, or how many were made for other towns.

Eightane 230 Report post Posted January 12, 2020 It nearly never gets said, but the Ratcliffe on the Green is one of my fave residential projects in uptown. Nothing else here looks like it, and the florist building facade save was inspired. Loving these pics!

KJHburg 69266 Report post Posted January 16, 2020 I have a question about drones and photography especially uptown: what are the rules and can people really fly through the handle of Duke Energy Center and so close to other highrises? My friend has the license and so forth but what percentage of drone owners are licensed? I know we have some great drone people on here that abide by all the rules but are some of these drone tours really allowed like the one reference above? If I was the property manager I would not be too happy with a drone flying through the handle atop the DEC or right above the crown of BACC? I think drones are great for photography, insurance, disaster assessment and so many other areas but I get concerned sometimes when people bend the rules. 4
