Love this.  This was put together by Wachovia as a promo.  Notice all the prominent ‘Wachovia’ branches featured amongst local landmarks.  Very cool.

I figured the creator just sold slots on a first come-first serve basis to whichever businesses wanted to be a sponsor. WBT is also featured prominently.

It may have worked that way.   The artist was Tom Dodds and there are references online about it being the “Wachovia” map.

Another interesting thing about this map- the artist or illustrator made maps like this for individual cities in the region too. Growing up, I had one of Shelby. I’ve also seen one of Gastonia. I have no idea where mine is now, or how many were made for other towns.

I agree and I think 3 Wells Fargo is a great looking building too.  Thank you First Union Wachovia for developing this and this private park.  Photo from last week.

And Childress Klein for a great execution. The underground parking and historic preservation (sign, church etc) are top notch.
