Genuine question. Don’t people want this to be a river or something?

Yes ideally it would be nice to not have a freeway cutting through our urban core, but total removal and possible replacement with something like a water body just seems very unlikely. For now I at least try to appreciate how grand the view is from that freeway. Perhaps something like a "cap" on top is a more feasible solution some day.

Wouldn't it be a pond? Where would the water come from and go to? It seems like there is a better chance of an asteroid hitting the earth than spending money on turning 277 into a body of water. But I'm sure people would like it in any event.

Okay I’m glad I’m not the only person confused by the “Belk Freeway River” topic.

also, how would you get into uptown… drive through southend? That sounds awful. I guess the point is, there should be less people driving.

Check the Capping 277 thread. I’ll also post there so it is near the top, hopefully. I also posted a comment explaining generally the goal of the idea. Maybe the posts from the thread and my comment will clarify some things for you.
