Yes, I especially love the first one as well, Mo! And to think, just a few years ago, Vue, Catalyst, DEC, 1 BOA Center, NASCAR Plaza, and the Park weren't even part of the skyline. I wonder if Hotel Sierra will show up from this angle when completed or will it be obscured by NASCAR Plaza.

This is also one of those angles that demonstrates how DEC has come to dominate the skyline.

it woud appear between the Park and Nascar Plaza in the tiny sliver that is there. weather it clears that tree remains to be seen though... It'll be about the height of Courtside, so it might...

Im trying to draw comparions of the first shot to other cities but I can't think of one right now. At first I thought of Denver which in itself is not a bad comparison. Given Denver is the epicenter of the Rocky Mtn region with well over 3M in its metro. Right now I think Charlotte has enough height for now it just needs to keep "filling in those gaps". I love the pics by the way.

Definitely agree with that... I think it would be great if we could fill in the gap between the new 1 BOA building and the Nascar plaza. Even if it was just a few 20-25 story buildings. I'm pretty sure the Nascar building will block the Hotel Sierra from this angle.

Actually, I'd prefer to see more DC-esque lowrise/midrise density in that area, fifteen stories max. That will greatly increase the urban density and the buildings will be more likely to be appropriately oriented towards the street and generate pedestrian activity. That's even more important when you consider that Brevard Street--our future urban stroll district--is in this area. But I wouldn't complain about the occasional 20-25 story building. :)

Hotel Sierra will actually be just to the right of The Park, not between The Park and NASCAR, and will be visible. NASCAR, The Park, and Hotel Sierra all front the west side of Caldwell, so when viewed from the angle the photo was taken, they will appear progessively to the right the further into the distance. It will be mostly obscured by The Park though....it will appear relatively short though...consider that NASCAR and The Park are almost identical in height, and the hotel is 100' shorter than both, and further away.

I agree. The most important design feature is not height, it's that new buildings have that street retail and support pedestrian activity. It doesn't matter how tall a building is... if we keep getting more BofA Corporates and Epicenter developments then it means nothing.
