Probably illegal, but would be really cool if you could send the copter up Tryon Street one Sunday morning filming video.

Definitely illegal. And endangering everyone's lives. I take safety and legality very seriously. Plust I don't have a gimbal yet for video! :-P

 

That said, I think the only way could could do this is if you had a film permit and it was for non-commercial use.

Lots of great shots of the urban core and the skyline!  I'm looking forward to seeing how the city looks when the Knights Park is complete.  

 

I am not very familiar with Charlotte (stopped on my way through a few times, but never spent significant time there).  Does anyone have any pics of neighborhoods or smaller commercial districts in the city?  I've looked through a good bit of this thread but not the whole thing and haven't seen much like that, but I could have missed it.

This is 4 photos taken with a fisheye lense, then stitched together into a panoramic with a program called Hugin on Ubuntu Studio Linux.

The church could really benefit from selling that land for a discounted rate with the guarantee that the developer would reserve spaces (X for Sundays, X for weekdays) in whatever would go there's parking deck. I'm sure any church could use the 10+ million that parking lot would fetch.
