Man, the Gov Center is the worst. A triangle building on a square lot for no reason. It can't make sense for use on the inside either...triangle office?

Not gonna lie, I think the gov center is one of the better buildings in Uptown for that reason. The shape creates some really nice plaza space and pedestrian cut-throughs. For most buildings, the exterior space is just whatever is leftover, at the government center it was a major component of the design.

The original plan called for another trianglular twin builidng (I'm thinking actually a couple floor taller) to be built facing the current one (so thinkk bi-sected square between 2 buildings) taking up where the plaza is today.

I think the recession in the early 90's killed that plan.

Super cool lookin from the top, very retro. Not the sterile feel the one has now.

I hear you, but I can't say that I miss that one.  Actually, I have fond memories of sneaking into my old office building 10 years ago to watch the implosion.

This is really cool.  I just found several cool pictures taken in romare bearden park

Google "photo sphere" allows users to create photos of urban spaces and upload.  Also, BofA plaza, Wells plaza...

To find them. drag the google street view man over Charlotte, and they show up as dots interior to streets.
