I believe that this was originally conceived back in 2005. At the time it included a 23-story tower, but the lower-density portion of the development also consisted of a lot of single family homes. It seems they have remassed the project to make the density more uniform.

That is a huge project. I hope they phase it correctly, because I dot see there being a market for 500 units at $550K each in that location. Good to see notable developments moving out from downtown though!

There was some controversy earlier in the about public boat ramp potentially closing, but it looks like that's been avoided

In late May, the Detroit city ramp at the foot of St. Jean on the east side was cut nearly in half by a fence; meanwhile, city officials tentatively have agreed to sell the ramp to the private developer who put up the fence. It's the second time that ramp -- once a premier launch site -- has lost ground to private development.

I agree, Statedude, except that it says that units in some buildings would start at $500,000 which evens sounds like it could simply mean that it may just be some of the upper floors in some buildings.

Hopefully the project is well designed. I like that the designs are supposed to be modern, so they won't be some pseudo-historic hybrid things.

Yes, the newsblurb says "contemporary design with mostly glass and steel facades."
