Louisville Retail

the city of louisville just bought most of the space in a block near the entertainment complex of fourth street live! this is in an effort to bring much needed retail to the downtown area. as we already know, developers are planning to bring a sort of lifestyle center to main street, with the redevelopment of the old brick buildings, known as iron quarter. this development is said to house retail and stores 'not found in the louisville area'. these stores will also be stores that normally 'louisville residents would have to drive to cincinnati or indianapolis to find'.

with these two large, and very important developments, what should louisville aim for? what does louisville need downtown and that other cities do not have to keep it up and coming? with the influx of residential units in downtown louisville, it is important to keep the core sound in terms of quality of life. i suggest that louisville recruit national, upscale restaurant chains that are not currently found in louisville. in terms of retail, i wouldn't know what to suggest. what do you think?
