Echelon Place

Echelon Place will take the place of the recently imploded Stardust Hotel and Casino, The $4.8 billion Echelon will sit on 87 acres of land on the north end of the strip.

Echelon will have 4,713 rooms that will be spred throughout five towers: the main tower will be the 2,300-room Echelon Hotel followed by the 650-room Suites at Echelon, the 860-room Mondrian Hotel Las Vegas, with the 353-room Shangri-La Las Vegas Hotel, and finally the 550-room Delano Hotel Las Vegas.

The land where the Westward Ho sat will remain vacant for the second phase of Echelon which will begins constuction at the completion of the current phase which is slated to be completed in the third quarter of 2010.

All four hotels will share these amenities:

750,000 sq. ft. convention center

300,000 sq. ft. shopping center

30 restaurants and bars

4,000 seat stadium-style theater

1,500 seat theater

140,000 sq. ft casino

Like alot of other projects around the country this one has stalled due to economic problems. The only problem that I see is construction has already started on this project. As a matter of fact they are on the 10th floor of this huge project. Also leaving an unfinished project in the heart of the strip will look terrible.

I would not be suprised if this startedf back up in a while. Wall st put too much money into the strip to have it sitting in an unfinished project. someone will end up financing the remainder as some steep discount and do very well for themselves.

MGM just got another 1.6B towards their huge project
