New hotels opening soon or just opened and new flights information from Asheville Citizens Times.

Buncombe County's "hotel pipeline"

Explore Asheville, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, keeps a database of hotel projects in Buncombe County. It has these projects listed as coming online in these time frames, although it notes all information is subject to change, and some information is limited:

2018 hotel openings — 389 total rooms

Holiday Inn & Suites in Arden near Asheville Regional Airport — 111 rooms.

Hampton Inn & Suites at 835 Brevard Road — 114 rooms.

The Asheville Foundry Inn, Curio Collection by Hilton, 51 S. Market Street, downtown Asheville — 92 rooms.

Glo Hotel (Best Western), 509 Tunnel Road — 72 rooms.

2019 hotel openings — Projected 1,545 rooms

Hotel Arras, McKibbon Hospitality Group, overhaul and renovation of the former BB&T Building, downtown Asheville — 128 rooms. 

Baymont Inn, 2 Hendersonville Road, Biltmore Village — 117 rooms.

Biltmore Station Hotel, Home2 Suites by Hilton, 61 Thompson Street — 117 rooms.

Courtyard by Marriott, 26 Meadow Road, South Asheville — 112 rooms.

Element by Westin, College Street at Town Mountain Road — 100 rooms.

Embassy Suites, 192 Haywood St., downtown Asheville — 185 rooms.

Hampton Inn, 305 Black Mountain Ave., Black Mountain — 38 rooms.

Hilton Brand, 390 Airport Road, Arden — 112 rooms.

Holiday Inn Express Blue, Reynolds Mountain Village area — 90 rooms.

Hyatt Place Asheville Airport, 329 Rockwood Road — 108 rooms.

Innsbruck Hotel by Candlewood Suites, Innsbruck Mall, Tunnel Road — 103 rooms.

LaQuinta Inn & Suites, 156 Sweeten Creek Road, South Asheville — 76 rooms.

Olivette Cabins, Woodfin area — 8 rooms.

The Hotel Krish, 1500 Tunnel Road, East Asheville — 86 rooms.

The Parisian, 68 Patton Ave., downtown Asheville — 61 rooms.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott, 39 Elm Street, near downtown Asheville — 104 rooms.

Total new rooms opened in 2017: 460

Total new rooms opened in 2016: 378

Total new rooms opened in 2015: 300

Total new rooms, 2015-19: 3,072.

AVL annual passenger growth, 2013-17

2013 — 678,023 passengers, up 7 percent from 2012.

2014 — 756,425 passengers, up 12 percent.

2015 — 787,037 passengers, up 4 percent.

2016 — 826,648 passengers, up 5 percent.

2017 — 956,634 passengers, up 16 percent.

Flights added at AVL

Since 2011, Allegiant Air has added these routes, with start dates:

• AVL to Orlando/Sanford International Airport, launched November 2011.
• AVL to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, September 2012.
• AVL to St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport, June  2013.
• AVL to Punta Gorda Airport, October 2013.
• AVL to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, May 19, 2016.
• AVL to Newark Liberty International Airport, November 2016.
• AVL to Denver International Airport, May 2018.

American Airlines — Dallas-Fort Worth, June 2015

Elite Airways — Vero Beach, Florida May 2015.

Spirit Airlines — Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Tampa International Airport. New carrier for Asheville, announced in June 2018.
