Downtown Sylacauga gets renovations

The downtown area of Sylacauga is undergoing a major revitalization with the restripping of Broadway, new decorative street lights, classic street signs and traffic signal posts. The whole revitalization will be complete in the fall. This great news for Sylacauga, a city that has maintained a very vibrant downtown with business and very pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.

Sylacauga will like continue to boom if not accelerate in its economic growth. They are doing the right thing to prepare and up the ante for the downtown area as it will need it with the major growth that is set to come. It, Childersburg, and Oak Grove are on the cusp of gaining the ex-urban development that currently affecting Chelsea, Vincent, and Harpersville in Shelby County. All those cities are all along the U.S. 280 cooridor and are in the right places to see the major economic and population grow for years to come.

In a related subject, don't be surprised if Childersburg wind up being a city the city of nearly the same size as Sylacauga within a few years as it is closer to Greater Birmingham. As Childersburg is in both Shelby and Talladega Counties and has key areas along the Coosa River front that are primed for residential growth.

There is not enough activity on the forum with posts about specifically about Shelby County to warrant an additional subforum. Aside from the ones discussing actual urban discussion issues i.e., new mixed-used project, housing development, or transportation or transit, it is basically talking about what new retailer opening a location in the county which doesn't warrant a new subforum either. So like, all the other counties in the Birmingham-Hoover MSA, any information on Shelby County will be placed in the already existing Birmingham subforum.
