and now the entire fence has been removed...very interesting. As gman said, half of it looked like it had blown down early in the week, but it might have been just the process of removal?

it's hard to know what this means - did they give up? in prep for development?

Hopefully they just gave up. It’s been SIX years since this project was first announced. If it hasn’t started construction by now, it never will. Time for the developer to move on and put the site up for sale.

I noticed Pike was working on the power lines at the intersection of the alley behind the site and River Street today. Those lines in the alley have to get moved before construction can begin. Maybe it’s related. Maybe it’s not. Who knows at this point.

This is what the West End Neighborhood Association said recently. I’m assuming they mean construction to start in Q1 or Q4 of 2024. Or maybe opening in 2025. Either way this is still happening.

”SunCap Mixed-use Project:

Is in final development stages and will break ground soon.  They anticipate opening in Q1-Q3 of '24.
Parking Deck will support residents and business within the project but will also provide 125 additional parking spaces for the Drive and public.
Retail users will include the Drive's new retail store.  Restaurants and other retailers have not yet been announced.”

That’s a different project. That’s the development for Main at Markley which starts construction this Summer. This thread is for the development at River and Main. I wonder what the Drive have planned for the former fire house if they’re moving their retail store?

Tore down historic buildings for a parking lot. Sad.

Welcome to the United States of America. Been happening for a century now and continues to happen everyday unfortunately but something eventually  will come along with this site.
