^ he was a serial lawsuit filier who sought to prevent the Knights from building uptown because he thought he could bring in MLB instead. He single handedly delayed the Knights move by 3 (?) years.

More like 6 years.

Truly a shame that its only for one game, the "Charlotte Pittmasters" (complete with brown uniform) is a way better team name than the Kinghts (IMO).

Think about the infinite marking opportunities.

I like Knights but those are some sweet unis/colors...Knights will be a great name when (in 20 years) we get MLB.

I am sad to report that my wife, unaffiliated to any sport, team, game, had to explain the relationship of Homer the Dragon to me. Knights...Castle...Dragon...Oooooooh, now I get it. (This was during the exile in York County)

Ouch

I feel like residential/retail would be such a better fit here.

Does anyone know why it's only 6 stories?

I guess we will need more than four games to see how the overall attendance goes. Fourth year in uptown and attendance has consistently gone down 2014: 9,686 2015: 9,428 2016: 8,974.

There is no place to go but down after the first year in a new stadium in minor league ball.

2014: 95% of capacity

2015: 92% of capacity

2016: 88% of capacity

They led all of minor league baseball in attendance for each of those three years. Also keep in mind that sellouts are quite rare in the minor leagues and even somewhat unusual in the majors.

Are you suggesting there is a problem? To me it looks like an incredibly strong business that is seeing less decline than expected as the novelty of their new stadium fades.

EDIT: I didn't do a much digging so the data are a little stale but I found a table of MLB attendance as a % of capacity for MLB in 2012 here: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/daily-notes-attendance-ranks-relative-to-capacity/#FG

It shows that only eight MLB teams drew more than 88% of stadium capacity on average. This means that 22 MLB teams drew less than the Knights by this metric. To put this another way, the 2016 Knights slightly OUTDREW the 2012 NY Yankees and pulled just marginally less than the 2012 Chicago Cubs (2016 World Champions!).

I don't know how much this would affect opening weekend, but 3 out of the 4 nights (Thursday through Saturday), the temp dropped fairly significantly in the evening (low 40s +-5).  So that probably hindered some people from going, just knowing that it would be cold. Sunday was gorgeous, but it was also a 2pm game.
