A woman died of heat stroke just outside of Graceland. She was camping in a tent waiting for the candlelight vigil. She was from New Jersey and in poor health, and the temp was 106. Her son said that she had been wanting to come for years. It probably wasn't the smartest thing, but at least she died doing what she loved.

Elvis Presley was, is and always will be the biggest thing to ever happen to Memphis, period. And those Memphians who don't respect or appreciate him, don't respect or appreciate the history of Memphis. Because he's as big a part as anything or anyone else in that city. Memphians ought to be proud of Elvis. He changed the face of pop culture. He's the biggest icon in the world. Name another celebrity as big as Elvis? Name another fan base of 70,000 that would stand in 106 degree heat to honor their idol with a candle light vigil 30 years after their death? There isn't one. That's why he's called thw King today. He stands the test of time.
