Olympics in China

Beijing banned more than one million cars from its roads on Friday in a test run to improve air quality for the Olympics. This will be a four-day test that is expected to be similar to a ban to be put in place for the duration of the August 2008 Olympics, as part of a range of measures to temporarily improve air quality for athletes and visitors.

They are building a spectacular new Olympic Park and three skyscrapers in the Central business District.

It will be interesting to see if the situation in Myanmar affects how China is viewed. China is one of Myanmars main supporters and if they crack down on the peaceful protests takign place, it will be on the world stage.

A lot in the news recently with the riots in Tibet and the European Union talking a potential opening ceremony boycott (doubt it will happen though). The clock is definetly ticking for Beijing.

Guys, don't associate sports with politics. When you do, the only ones hurt are the athletes. Make sense?
