The tower sold out in seven weeks, after sales began on March 20. It is one of two residential towers planned for the 706-unit condominium project.

"We're very excited with the tremendous response to our first tower," said Fred Chan, general manager of KC Rainbow. "Moana Pacific has attracted a wide range of buyers. We're looking forward to the response to our second tower, the East Tower."

Chan says KC Rainbow will begin accepting lottery applications for the second tower in June.

"A lottery is what our buyers preferred," he said. "It complements the current real estate market, where buyer demand remains so strong."

In March, prospective buyers camped out in front of the sales office at Piikoi Street and Kapiolani Boulevard for a shot at the first release of 95 units, which were on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Prices for one-bedroom units start in the low $300,000s, though two- and three-bedroom units are also available. Units can be combined for about $700,000 and up.

Sales also have begun for Posec Hawaii's 909 Kapiolani Condominiums at the corner of Kapiolani and Ward Avenue.
