West Puget Sound boomtown: Bremerton!

Bremerton has long been the poor brother of Puget Sound cities. But in the last several years ambitious ex-Bellevue mayor Cary Bozeman has become not only Bremerton's mayor, he has also become Bremerton biggest agent of change.

A new ferry dock (to Seattle) and staging building, a new downtown waterfront park, oodles of new highrise condos with commanding views are what is exciting about the new Bremerton. When I moved to Bremerton in 1998, the downtown waterfront/ferry area was a no-man's land. Hard to believe it's so nice today.

We have a downtown jazz club, several cool new coffee shoppes, restaurants, hair salons, a tea room, etc etc. ----when I moved to Bremerton, downtown was just a place to walk through to get to the Seattle ferry.

In the next year and a half, a ferry tunnel and an extention of the boardwalk to a nearby waterfront park will be underway.
