Among individual artifacts: a circa 1950 bus seat signed by Rosa Parks; a rare two-sided Coke machine, one meant for blacks and the other for whites and the pen used by President Johnson to sign the National Voting Rights Act of 1965.

at one time Musuem organizers were trying to bring the actual Rosa Parks bus to the museum. The bus however was moved to the Ford museum. Size wise the museum is only slightly smaller than the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. A few days ago the Memphis museum announced a major renovation thats going to take 3 years. The museum in Memphis is also location in a historical site related to the civil rights movement.

Total Square Footage

National Civil Rights Museum - Memphis 47,000

International Civil Rights Museum - Greensboro 40,000

Maybe other historic sites in the Greensboro area can be linked to the civil rights museum such as locations related to the underground railroad. That way the civil rights experience can go beyond just the museum itself.
