The Jackson Sun had a very short news article on its site listing the finding of a UT-Martin professors findings in regards the University of Tennessee at Martin's economic impact on the West Tennessee region. The professor found UTM contributed $118 million dollars to the local and regional economies, with the bulk of those dollars (75.6% or $89 million dollars) being generated being in Weakley and Obion counties in NWTN.

UT-Martins direct economic impact on the region is often overlooked and taken for granted IMO. This professor's study clearly shows just how vital an economic engine the university is to the region.

Are other regional universities and their economic impacts similarly overlooked in anyone's opinion?
