Requiem for a Queen

I'd rather that the Delta Queen could keep rolling along, but if she's going to be taken out of service, I wonder if it would be possible to have her retired here, turned into an attraction? I know they're based out of New Orleans, so it's more likely to go there, but it'd be nice to have sucha floating museum on or near Mud Island. Other cities have retired ships you could visit. We could start a maritime museum or something . . . I hope someone in Memphis could put something together to add her to our harbor.

If someone knows someone who knows someone, please cajole them to bring her to Memphis!

This would be a great addition to our harbor. I can see artifacts, tour of the ship, maybe even a jazz club inside, would complement beale St landing. Send your comments about pursuing this to Leslie Gower CCC [email protected]

Great letter! hopefully some one at the CCC will take note of this and pursue the feasibility of this. I also contacted her, Jeff Sanford & Benny Lendermon Chairman of the RDC. Here's a layout of the ship maybe it could be used as a ferry/hotel to tunica just a thought.
