NCB
Great sets of photos from both of you guys! Glad to hear you both enjoyed your trips as well. I've been to both Vegas and Orlando and quite honestly, I had more fun in Orlando @ Disneyworld than I did in Vegas. I've had more fun partying in New Orleans than Vegas. A few of my friends flew out to Vegas during Spring Break last year, and they came back pretty underwhelmed. But I've also had friends and family members come back from Vegas with nothing but great things to say about the place. I plan on heading that way eventually just because I really want to explore the West, but apart from "the lights" and "the shows" it seems like everything Vegas is known for (gambling, partying, clubs, food, etc.) I can experience here in New Orleans. But I'm here to say...and this seems to suprise everybody...I'm 22 years old and I have never been to Disney World.
byrde
For me, Vegas seemed to nickle and dime you for everything. In New Orleans, everything is kinda "open" and come on in to join the party. You don't have to break the bank to have a great time in New Orleans. But I'm here to say...and this seems to suprise everybody...I'm 22 years old and I have never been to Disney World. Don't feel bad about not making it to Disney. I know plenty of people your age and much older that have yet to make it to the "Magic Kingdom". Contrary to popular belief, it is not just for kids. Plenty of fun for all ages. buckett5425
I CANT BELIEVE IT! KCS demolished the Union Tank Car Facility, the geodesic dome in north baton rouge, on Nov. 15. It was the 11th largest by diameter in the world. Im glad i took all of my arch friends there to go see it, who would have known they were going to demolish the dome, when next year it could have gone on the Historical Preservation List. I am very upset. here is the link to the advocate.
byrde
I have seen that dome from the air when flying in or out of BTR, but I never paid a visit to the structure. It's a shame to lose such a historical building. I understand that when it was built, it was the largest of its kind.

yis2003yis
Man just think how it would have looked in the future...if the state would have put a few funds into it and restoring it into a Museum...or landmark...because ive noticed that scenic strip.....comming from zachary is really starting to change i see land being cleared and signs for retail shopping centers and neighborhoods and otha things but when that loop comes that might be a good lil area and that dome would have been great so see. richyb83
Thanks for posting this. I was going to post this in the Historic thread. What a shame!!! Those dirty b*st*rds at KC Southern R.R. said it was too dangerous and filled with asbestos??? Those sneaky rats demolished the dome during the Thanksgiving break while no one was paying attention. twstdndmntd
Now if we can only fix the rest of the problems with traffic. LOL I think the city could benefit from a few more of those intersections.
UptownNewOrleans
No, but I definately had the chance to. All along the strip these Hispanic people were handing out cards with naked women on them and these were everywhere along with advertise trucks with billboards on the back. My mom also pointed out some hookers in the casino which bordered the restaurnt we were eating at. And they got some busness too because two man walked up to one of them and started talking and I looked down to take a bite of my sandwich and when I looked back up they were gone. Funny you mention that, because you would have experienced the same thing in the Quarter.

byrde
For those of us with HDTV's, Cox has added 5 new channels. CNN, Food Network, HGTV, Discovery and Cinemax are now showing in HD.
dan326
I went to see Beowulf in 3D yesterday and it was great. While some elements of the plot were disappionting the graphics were not! Since this is the place for urban enthusists, I figured ya'll might be interested in some screenshots I've been taking of a city I've been working on in SimCity 4 for a few months. It's called "Jeihala" which is based on the Arabic word "al jعhal (ع is a special Arabic sound)" which means "the royalty" and is based loosely off of Charlotte and Atlanta. dan326
Somebody sure knows how to live it live in up the "New" South Baton Rouge. This colossal house is near the Highland/Bluebonnet intersection. Also here is another screen shot of my city, just in case anybody was interested. dimebag1980
Do away with the suburbs and you've got yourself a nice city! That house is amazing... wow! I know of a guy in south Shreveport with a $20 million home and I swear it's not even that big.

richyb83
I saw that house(castle) a few weeks back. I could hardly believe it! That thing looks straight outta Miami or West Palm Beach! Hey Dan, my bad, how did I miss that?? I just remembered I had ear/sinus infection around Dec. 15th when you first posted your city! Nice job! Wow that city has really grown-up alot! That's good you kept green space along the waterway! I need to post my city street map from last year. I have just started on a new one. I posted some old ones a year back. Cofee House sure is a good idea.
dan326
Do away with the suburbs and you've got yourself a nice city! Thanks Brian. This probably sound funny, but I get the greatest enjoyment out of seeing my city map as a whole rather than playing the actual game. That is why I have such huge suburbs, to add visual interest and to add realism. Hey Dan, my bad, how did I miss that?? Thanks Richy. It's got a lot more growing to do too, my goal is to have at least 1.5 million people. I have some really cool towers I want to put up in the downtown and a subway system/commuter rail ,but can't right now because I'm such a realism junky. Of coure,if that was the case, I probably shouldn't have put a huge complete interstate loop and off shots. It's actaully really good to put lots of green space because it increases you mayor rating. I can't wait. I'm sure it's great! Coffee House sure is a good idea. I figured it would be. I figured if little cities got them then we should have one too. Maybe if this gets really popular we'll be able to have a real one. Edit: They need to raise the emoticon limit. I mean, only 4 is ridiculous! How are people supposed to properly express themselves!
