^^ lets talk about that cycle track design/alignment.

Would it not be better to have it go straight and have the drop-off & pick-up lane be next to the curb?

I feel like that would work better for both the hotel and the cyclists, no?

I am very excited about this project. Sad to see the funky mini park go but all in all I think this is going to be a major win for the North side of uptown.

The wiggle in the cycle track approaching Tryon allows for a wider sidewalk where pedestrian traffic is heaviest yet also hotel drop-off along 6th.  The pedestrians dropped-off or picked-up in the loading zone on 6th can more safely cross the cycle track to/from the curb than motor vehicles. It's also safer for those motor vehicles to maneuver back into the through-left lane on 6th adjacent to the loading area than looking for both a gap in cyclists and a gap in motorists on 6th.

Does anyone know who the GC is for the project  ?

I believe it is Cleveland Construction. I am looking forward to seeing their logistics plan. I am having a hard time visualizing where they will stockpile materials on this postage stamp of a lot.

This has to be one of the tightest construction sites in uptown history.  Maybe Levine will rent them a parking lot for a laydown lot. Remember how the Museum Tower was built they build a huge platform that blocked sunlight from the Starbucks there for a year! This is going to be very interesting to watch for sure.  It is more like a Manhattan construction site of a super thin high rise.

1BAC/Ritz didn't have any lay down area, either. It's a ballet of on-time deliveries.

If I remember correctly, they blocked off the top level the adjacent parking deck (the one that used to have the super-long skywalk going to Founders Hall) and used it for staging.

That’s correct I remember from the long defunct 210 trade construction cam that sort of looked at both.

Is there going to be much downward digging on this site

All the permits I've seen refer to micropile foundation being used.  Did not see anything about a basement floor.

They're making a big marketing push. They had folks at the square handing out branded popcorn during lunch today

Got me sold (the website did, actually). I'm ready to watch some classic movies & cartoons in a classic theater. I will absolutely be contributing to the food & beverage donations.
