Looking at where they are now I would estimate this to rise 1.5 floors per month starting in mid to late 1st Quarter 2020.   The pace of construction for the Reinforced Concrete Elevator Core will be the main controlling factor of how fast they get vertical.   Don’t be surprised if this site is only 15 to 20 floors by years end 2020.

I realize your approach on this forum is usually pessimism, but this makes sense given the extremely tight parcel and the complexity of the project. I'll admit the construction company itself is known for slowness but in this case it would be near-impossible to be built on the same schedule or pace as towers of comparable height on larger land pieces.

I'm fine with being patient for the new tallest hotel in the state *and* a great save of one of the few historic gems we have left.

remember first and foremost this is a historical renovation of historic Carolina Theater with a glass high rise hotel on top.  This is one of 2 of the  Aussie's project in the USA so they better make it shine.

I thought once the crane went up this project would get some traction.  It appears to be no progress here.

And THAT is what is most important to me.  I'm excited to see this hotel go up, but I'm WAY more excited to see this theater -- one of the few remaining historic structures in Charlotte -- finally get restored and returned to active use after 30 years of fits and starts,  doubts about restoration ever happening or being completed, and threats of demolition.

I believe there was a lot of remediation that was required for the site and the theater. Maybe they are finally at a point where true structural work can begin.

because the fundraising took years. They kicked it off, in order fundraise to do this.

I’m revising this estimate down to possibly only rising 1.5 floors per month starting in mid 2nd Quarter (April or May) meaning only 10 or 12 floors high by years end.  I’m hoping Elevator Core Construction commences within the next 30 - 45 days.  Once that takes off then building floors will begin to rise.
