Gentlemen:  here's a little tidbit for you.   

Bob's a very experienced Senior Project Manager.  He supervised the building of the following towers on Charlotte's skyline.

One Bank of America Center - 484 ft.  / 147.5 m. tall,  32 floors 

Ascent Uptown - 345 ft. / 105.1 m tall, 33 floors

Trust me, Bob will finish the renovation of the Carolina Theater and the building of The Intercontinental Hotel.

My contact at the construction company was unfortunately laid off because of COVID, they didn't however think that there would be a circumstance where construction would have stopped.

I don’t know if this project is stalled. If it is that sucks. However, I’ve seen people post pics of other projects like this before “no workers” , so I’m chiming in. If this is a Saturday pic you all do realize that lots of commercial sub contractors are not local to Charlotte and go home on the weekends. Even Fridays lots of times are only half days. Lots of crews will do 10 , 12,14 hour days Monday thru Thursday and half days on Friday. Or be working at night. Or if the scope of work to be completed during a particular week is finished early they will leave early. Only time work is done on weekends is because of crunch time or make up time because of bad weather previously or the coming week. Also material deliveries. On Ally right now for example there is a material to be used for exterior in some places that is coming from Australia and is 4-6 weeks out still. There are so many variables.
I know we are all excited for the completion of this particular project I’m just fascinated by the negative AF posts with nothing confirmed.

Work has not halted on site. The theatre and foundation offices are proceeding forward as scheduled. 

No word on the hotel yet, which is a separate air rights deal. Hopefully get info on that tomorrow.

I care mostly (by far) about the theater.  It would be devastating if work on the theater halted.  For me, the hotel is just the cherry on top -- quite a big cherry, but nevertheless just the cherry.

Well, at the pace they're on, they'll be done with the elevator shaft in December 2021, so what's the worry?

Seriously, there's "its a small site" and "this kind of construction is new to Charlotte," and then there's "six whole elevator floors in four months; you really outdid yourself."

I will put not one but two dozen Krispy Kremes up that the hotel still isn't built at December 31, 2021.

Well the point at which work was theoretically halted would have been an unusual coincidence as they have reached a point where the forms for the current core are no longer needed (which is why they came down) and we are at a transfer floor at L6 from theatre to hotel. You can see the corbels which will support steel trusses for this transition.

That EB5 website also says the hotel tower portion of construction is targeting Q4 2020 to Q4 2022. So its possible they are still on schedule.

Thank you for this link.  I totally understand this site better now.  First 6 floors is FFTC space and the Tower above is InterContinental.  I wonder if they’ll bring in a different Contractor and/or Crew for the High Rise portion in early next year?
