Love these.  But seriously, if you saw the inside of the theater and the refurbishing work that has to be done...glass facade is not even on the top half of the priority list.

Oh…I know what’s inside and I sure know that the real progress getting done is inside the theater itself. It is a theater renovation first and foremost. The outside is just the bow on top. (Mine was just saying, “I wonder why they still need that crane there? Hotel? Is it because it is more expensive to disassemble it and put back up if they suddenly move forward with it? Or do they have some sort of deal that makes this rental crane cheaper or something along those lines. Why is that crane necessary and are the costs of it great and or necessary to take?”).

Taking it down costs about 5 months of rent on the crane, putting it back, because of where it'll need to be, probably 10 months of crane rent.

Residents and visitors to New York City are familiar with the phenomenon of scaffolding surrounding or fronting buildings but with no work occurring for months at a time. This is because the cost to disassemble the scaffolding after completion of work, load the material on trucks with drivers, take them to storage areas in New Jersey, pay for storage lot, pay for new scaffolding location, send trucks to New Jersey, load and deliver the scaffolding at a new location is far more than leaving it at the original location and paying the monthly fee to the city (or whatever the license is).

I wouldn't say nothing...the trolley is extended and the hook block is lowered to street level in those photos which means it's in some form of operation. Now whether or not a tower crane is necessary for the work it is doing is a whole other question

the Real Clayton and CLT Development and RickyDavisFan told me that is cheaper to pay the rent then take apart the crane and put it back up.  The hotel he said is still happening/

Does that mean that they’ll keep the crane for 2-3 years until construction starts? Or that the hotel will be completed in 2-3 years? Because if it’s the former I would have my doubts it would cheaper to keep it for years doing nothing unless they’re hoping for a positive change in hotel industry that gives them enough confidence to build sooner rather than later.

the latter, hotel are about to start picking back up. I know of 3 on the verge of being announced.
