The Cypress @ Six Forks & Lead Mine

4 posts in this topic

Don't know how many of you venture out to North Raleigh (I try not to since I moved out of my parents' place), but anyone familiar with the area at Six Forks/Strickland/Lead Mine will remember the big farm that used to be on Northbound Strickland at Lead Mine.

Now the landscape there is dotted by two large cranes building The Cypress, a huge assisted living community.

6 condo buildings and 36 or so cottage homes from $350-$750k.

Web site and construction photos here...

There were 3 cranes up this weekend I believe. It's unfortuante that they had to clear cut and remove all of the top soil/leaf liter as the eroison controls there have been underperforming.

Looks like the area is comparable in size to Croasdaile Village in Durham.

How typical of Raleigh - the location is surrounded by shopping but the buildings are separated from all of it by parking lots. God forbid anyone would prefer to WALK to shop!
