City Restaurant Scene

Over the last few years the restaurant scene in Hartford has become very competitive with dozens of new restaurants opening, revamping themselves or in some cases closing all together. Hartford has placed itself on the map as a destination for good food like many other small and mid sized cities including New Haven, Middletown and Providence. Despite the problems Hartford has in attracting retail tenants it has little trouble in attracting new restaurants, bars, cafes, etc.

This is a place to share what new restaurants have opened? what has closed? what is planned? Maybe you were driving around the city and saw a "coming soon" sign...this is the place to share it because noone can be everywhere at once tracking new dining establishments in the city.

If Chow Row is the food court in the Residence Inn that is being redone I think the Chinese take out place inside (which has great food and has been there for years) is finally getting its own place because I saw a sign on Temple Street for them

Also new to the South End: Sidewalk Cafe at 236 South Street

Praline's Ice Cream (I think thats the name) at the former Rosco's Hot Dog on Franklin Ave

The new Indian restaurant at Capitol and Main is Masala, and it is excellent.

Ditto for Capuccino's at Linden and Main. Great for breakfast.

New place opening in Trumbull Place apartments near Vito's and there is talk of Ann Howard's opening something in Bond Hotel street level.

New brewery opening near Agave.

Walked by Trumbull on the Park last night, looks like new restaurant coming soon... Name is Dulce, I now nothing about it although a sign on the window said live music in the lounge... Also walked by Bushnell park, when did they get new lights?? Those things were glowing so bright, it actually looked safe to walk through the park at night...
