With much fanfare Downtown Knoxville celebrated the opening of Regal Riviera 8 last thursday.

I tryed to get tickets to see a movie but they were totally sold out all night long!

Downtown knoxville is undergoing a rebirth of sorts. Market square is slowly filling with resturants and Galleries. And now We have a new Movie theater Downtown. WOO HOO!

This is definitely a cool addition to downtown Knoxville. I think this could/should prove to be a great development for downtown and definitely shows its urban core is moving in a right direction. Glad to see the project is complete and is off to a good start - as I had not heard much about it for awhile.

Redstar25: Really appreciate you posting pics from the opening. The development seems to fit into the landscape quite well. Really nice looking.

This really adds to the quality of life in the downtown area, and will help add to the momentum of downtown living there. Nashville doesn't even have a downtown cinema now, so congratulations Knoxville!

As a former UT student that remembers the days when the Tennessee showed Blacksplotation Films and the Bijou showed Porno, I can say that the proximity of the theater to the University will ensure that it stays a success. It is nice to see the improvements being made in K-town.
