PBN: "City moves to protect waterfront business

Planning Dept. suggests limiting residential use "

"After an outcry from marine businesses along Allens Avenue in Providence, the city has scaled back its proposed redevelopment area.

The City Planning and Development Department will recommend that the redevelopment area – which some business owners feared would be a precursor to the city taking their land by eminent domain – be reduced in size"

"Shooters zoning denied by the CRMC"

http://www.pbn.com/detail/47580.html

There are eight CRMC council members. What was thedistribution of no votes? Do any of the council members live in Fox Point?

If a Type 4 classification requires less review because Type 4uses produce less significant impact on the waterfront, why would the CRMC turn down thecity’s proposal unless the CRMC was politically prompted by the Head of the Bay Gateway Committee?
