Hey GRGuy, how about some pictures of the Lincoln Park South Pond Refectory? My bro got married there and it's a beautiful old building. I believe it's open to the public most of the time.

I found this picture online:

And it's located RIGHT HERE.

When you get a chance. :)

Cool condo building. Designed by Ralph Johnson of Perkins & Will. He also designed the Peshtigo, and several other prominent condo towers. He is becoming a marketable name in the condo world here.

Some cool signs. Disappearing fast in a gentrifying city.

It's beginning to look a lot like Xmas...

Macys (formerly Marshall Fields) main atrium all decked out.

Outside is done up, as well. Not too much concern about State Street being a retail backwater today.

The windows with great displays return.

Now, back to the subject at hand...buildings!

This is The Clare at Water Tower, a full service, high rise, senior living tower.

A block from Water Tower Place, a good location for the those that shop til they drop!

If you are not quite ready for senior living, you could try the new Canyon Ranch tower. Have a massage every night after work? Maybe a carrot juice cocktail?

At the Chicago River, looking up toward the Wrigley and Tribune Tower, with the Intercontintal there too. A cold but clear start to the shopping season.

All stone and decorative buildings from another era. You can look up in a few places along Michigan Avenue and believe you are living in the 1920's. Right before you get run over by an SUV with a driver talking on her cell phone with the kids in the back watching a DVD.

I love the crossing of Michigan and the river. So many historic buildings like that, it's simply surreal.

I totally agree! On a warm day I used to forego the subway ride from Chicago to Lake and instead take a stroll down Michigan Ave to work.

Great pics GRGuy! Bonus points for you!! :) That Bloomingdale's store is amazing. I don't know if you noticed, but around the perimeter of the building's interior, the new portion is disconnected from the old walls so that you can see down multiple floors and make out the unique architectural details. It makes it feel like the new portion is "floating" inside the building.

Ah, the Grand Lux restaurant. I've been there many times and make it a point to go anytime I'm in Chicago. I do miss living a couple of blocks away from it and Michigan Avenue. It is amazing how packed the streets stay even on a cold February day, that was always shocking to me. I guess I'm not the only one that can't get enough of the streets of Chicago! :)
