Downtown Anderson

There was an article towards the end of last week that Doh Dah Cafe was moving shop out of downtown to Hwy 81 North. The article cited business lost during the streetscape improvements that led to the decision to relocate.

That little cafe was nice and ecclectic. Sorry they had to move to another part of the city.

Anderson's Downtown is really becoming a pretty cool destination (in spite of the economy). Check out this review of four new places to hang out.

The Chiquola project is the latest casualty of the bad economy. The building was foreclosed on, and the restaurant is losing money (again because of the economy). I really hate this for Anderson. The good news is that you can probably get a hell of a good deal on a downtown condo. They are going to be auctioned on October 6th.

This was not mentioned here, but the beautiful Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill located on Main Street closed its doors on September 12.

Additionally, while reading the article linked in the previous post, I noticed a link for an article about the closing of Charlie T's. That was a well-known place for many years, despite not being in downtown.

This nasty global economic recession has definitely affected our area.
