Dixie Classic Fair

Recommended Posts

This past week, I had received some complimentary tickets to the Dixie Classic Fair. Usually I don't go to the fair when it comes to town, because of the lack of new attractions/rides and the overall quality that has gone straight down the crapshoot IMO. Though, I decided to try it this year and see if it met my expectations. Honestly, it's not that bad, but it could be a lot better. I didn't take my tripod with me when I was photographing last night, due to the bulkiness of it. Here are the photos I got last night:

Well, the Dixie Classic Fair is now over again for another year. Fox 8 reported this morning that attendance this year set a new record! Over 371,000 people came and enjoyed the fair for the 125th anniversary! Way to Go Dixie Classic!

I've been going to the Dixie Classic Fair every year of my life and it's something I look forward to every year and I go twice many years including this year.

I went to Raleigh's State Fair in 2001 and let's just say it was a bad experience. Dixie Classic is the best fair I've ever been to.

I also have an old video tape from 1994 of WFMY News 2's Crossin' Carolina at the Fair which was hosted by Arlo Lassen. It's a nice bit of WFMY nostalgia and Dixie Classic nostalgia.

I'll try to upload some of my fair pictures from this year as soon as possible, but I don't think they're as good as the ones on here.

Matt's Carnival Warehouse, an internet clearing house for carnivals, exhibitions, etc; has released the 50 biggest fairs in North America for 2007. The Dixie Classic Fair made it's inaugural appearance on this list in position 50, thanks to a 17% increase in attendance this year. Let's hope the Dixie Classic can keep up the growth!
