Alas - it would appear that the fear of materialistic Russian epileptics has yet to be named.

No major phobias for me. Heights - yes, if there isn't anything under me. Snakes, bats or spiders, yes, if they're up close and personal; otherwise they are free to be creepy and consume other vermin and varmints to their collective hearts' content. After a few years of retail, I think I may have that fear of Germans, whatever that one was called (I'm not checking the list again), but maybe not. I do fear death, some varieties at least (swift, sudden and while I'm asleep would be theoretically acceptible), especially if the death also involves any newspaper headline that makes use of the words "careened," "nose dived" or "swerved uncontrollably."

The proliferation of phobias does remind me of a random ad I remember stumbling across in Village Voice years ago: Addicted To Therapy? Call ___-____, Dr. ____ ______. It boggled the mind that someone might actually have reason to look into such a problem (I probably should have, just to see what this was all about); after all the other addictions (drugs, money, sex, religion, booze, smoking, accidentally smoking, eating, drinking, breathing, plastic surgery, vacationing in exotic places, name-dropping, being ironic, shopping, unwholesomeness, life and everything in it) have been catalogued, mapped out, deconstructed and our quirks have been systematically pathologized, we finally arrive at the ultimate dead end: therapy junkies.

A dreadful and magical malady for the modern age we multitask in.

I have a fear of the new Hardee's commercial featuring the bobblehead lei'ed girl and the moron eating the new Hawaiian Chicken sandwich who can't stop staring at her or making her dance. I think he's getting his "wa-he-nay" on. They should make a new commercial in which she comes to life and butchers him with a spork.

Heights - ironic since my job often involves working at heights.

Mosquito's - They absolutely love me, which is probably why I hate them... My skin crawls after i've been bitten and pure paranoia sets in. Every hair on me that moves in the wind is a mosquito landing. I'm ok with needles, but the thought of an insect sucking blood from my arm.....aahhhhhh!!

Xyrophobia-fear of razors

Well, I figured there was a phobia name for this. I absolutely can't stand to touch or see razor blades or straight razors. I blame it all on a movie I watched as a little child where Angie Dickenson was sliced up with a straight razor on an elevator. I've been frightened of them since.

I have a friend that has "Anthophobia" which is fear of flowers the ones in particular that he is afraid of are roses, sun flowers and the summer vine flowers such as honey suckles and the orange creeping trumpets. he doesnt even want to smell honey suckles.

They say dramatic experiences usually fuel these phobias and he did tell me that his parents told him that when he was a baby, the flower pattern on the mattress scared him to death.

I said I have fear of heights but im also claustraphobic. One time I had a panic attack sitting in the back seat of my moms 1973 Ford LTD Brougham. There are really no windows in the back seat with exception to that mini window so you have a feeling of being closed in.

well, who doesn't have Bolshephobia - a fear of bolshevicks!!

i don't know if i have anything as severe to be deemed a phobia... but, i do have certain moments of anxiety. the thought of my children being injured is a big one. also, love lost, past girlfriends and nostalgic memories... which i guess can be attributed to the anxiety of passing time.

i used to have a pretty big fear of heights... though, it's not as bad these days. i still am not 100% comfortable flying... even though i do and will - it just feels counter-intuiative.

There are so many phobias out there, many of which I'd swear are made up.

My only major phobias are: claustrophobia, arachniphobia, ophidiophobia, and guns (I no longer carry a gun and am getting increasingly nervous around those who do). Strangely enough I didn't see guns on that list.

Oh and despite having three of the most common phobias... I LOVE heights!! It's FALLING that bothers me. :) I'm at home atop high buildings, in airplanes, etc. I live for that kind of thing. I'm currently looking into helicopter rentals because that's one thing I've never ridden in. I was going to go up in a balloon, but after standing below and helplessly watching a seasoned professional balloon pilot dangle from a balloon and fall to their death in a heavily populated neighborhood, I will never... ever... ever get in one.

do you have a huge beard? :P

i have a fear of the dark when i'm outdoors and it's really quiet or i'm in a strange place (my last semester in college, i got to move in early.. before the RA's even, i was the only one in one of the oldest dorms on campus, it was freaky). i can also sometimes be afraid of heights depending on what i'm doing (tall ladders and scaffolding for instance get me a bit nervous, especially if they're not super sturdy). roller coasters are the last one... but not all of them, just the ones that really jerk you around and have huge drops (it's the drop i don't like and the suspense when they pull you up a long incline).

i once met someone who was afraid of mayonnaise. so with the permission of her boyfriend, i tested it. yup, she was afraid (came back quietly and put a jar right in front of her, she flipped).
