Alabama International Airports

What do you guys think about a airport plan for the state. Create a International Aiprort Authority to help develop and plan the airports. If the state can have 3 world-class, state-of-the-art, truly international airports, then we can create jobs and create a new image for Alabama.

Huntsville International can serve North Alabama and Hunstville with their master plan to add 2 new runways and 3 new terminals in the long term.I could see Huntsville being a big cargo airport with flights all over the world.

A new airport can be built in Chilton County. The Alabama International Airport can serve both Birmingham and Montgomery. Just close down or sell Birmingham and Montgomery's current airports. Alabama International could be the international gateway for the state with flights to London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Toronto, Mexico City, Rio, Tokyo, Seoul, ect.

Then form a partnership with Mobile and Pensacola. And build Gulf Coast International with more foregin flights and many domestic flights. Build in Baldwin County in 1-10.

Each of these airports could really boost both the ecodomy and poulation of Alabama.

It's a great plan; however, I would focus on creating three airports that are simply attractive for the national scale. The international flights you are talking about are fought over amongst well-established legacy hub airports, so it would be extremely rare to see them lumped together and flying out of places such as Huntsville and Birmingham. Huntsville could see them as far as cargo, but for pax...that's a tough sell. If anything, I could see Caribbean destinations as initial international routes.

well since that is Huntsville's goal and is in the process of making it happen then you are correct.

HSV was the third fastest growing cargo airport in the world last year.

They are the only ones currently that have the land and infrastructure in place to carry out the long range plan.
