Alabama Scenic Byways

The national scenic byway program is well-recognized:

However, not so many are familiar with the state scenic byway program :

Much has been said on these forums and elsewhere about the need for regional cooperation in metro Birmingham, so

here's a positive example :

Jefferson, Shelby, and St. Clair Counties' officials have joined Leeds and area planning and development boards to support a Scenic Byway designation for Leeds' 119/411 corridor. The route connects these three counties.

Thanks for posting the info, DruidCity. I wasn't aware of some of those scenic byways in Alabama. It's good to see that more may be added in the future. There was talk of making the causeway in Mobile part of the scenic byway program, but I'm not sure what happened with that.
