"The Firm" Memphis Shots

As many of you know, back in 1993 a John Grisham novel became a movie, featuring Tom Cruise. The film was set and taped in Memphis. I found a movie trailer that has shots of the "M" shaped bridge leading to Arkansas, the Pyramid, speaking atop the Peabody Hotel (I think, could be another building), and even a brief showing of the monorail line out to Mud Island from downtown.

This requires Quicktime (high quality widescreen):

Here is a Windows Media Player trailer (for lower bandwidth, TV version 300k stream):

This thread has not been followed up in a while so I thought I'd add to it. I've seen the film many times, since in the last year it has popped up on HBO over and over again. I have been trying to figure out where some of the interior and exterior shots were filmed. For example, Vance Lauderdale of Memphis Magazine stated that the old International Harvester building was used for some shots, such as the chase scene during which Wilford Brimley gets his butt kicked. But what about the law firm location itself, was that also the same building??

I have tried to find the house used for the McDeere home, but have never been able to find the neighborhood. Looks like either Chickasaw Gardens or possibly somewhere off E. Cherry/Laurelwood/Walnut Grove area.

Aside from the obvious Beale St/Mud Island downtown shots, I've noticed a few of the exterior scenes:

1) The Clark Tower parking garage, where the car pulls out onto Poplar heading west.

2)Southland Greyhound park in West Memphis AR.

3)Top of the Peabody

And so many more. The last time I watched it I was trying to figure out what restaurant Gene Hackman takes Tom Cruise to in the beginining. Sorta looks like the former Dux restaurant in the Peabody, and also looks a little like Owen Brennan's in East Memphis.

At the time it was exciting to see so many familiar places when the film came out in 1993. One thing that bugged me about the film is the Morolto meeting where we are made to think the scene was shot in the Peabody with a view of the river. There is no unobstructed view from any Peabody rooms, so they rented a condo overlooking the Mississippi. The same condo was used for Cast Away, making the same fake hotel room error.
