Charlotte's Light Rail: Lynx Blue Line

Google has updated the aerials in Maps, and it looks like the shots were taken in November. Progress on the Blue Line and North Tryon look pretty good. Though, I'm surprised at the lack of work on the Sugar Creek grade-separation project.

I literally was about to paste my screenshot and tell everyone to take a look at south end and noda with the updated aerials!0404625e7ce6751a25e57d1fccc4f5d4.png

^No updated aerials on Safari (MacBookAir) I still show Chop Shop and 36th St open to traffic which indicates that it is taken from 2013. Tried using "historical imagery" feature on Google Earth but no luck.

Any suggestions?

I'm assuming it's a mobile update and hasn't gotten around to or doesn't have enough detail for desktop. 'Cause I don't have the updated images on Chrome on my desktop (really a Surface Pro 4) either.

You need to go into the menu and turn 3D off.

Just some before and after photos of the view of uptown and the blue line from 11th street. Definitely a big difference!

I'd kill to see the land on the right developed in the near future... It'll be something huge one day.

Hint noted

haha. no hint. Its the Hal Marshall Land, and its been ready for redevelopment for over a decade, its just been stagnated by Daniel Levine and the slow progress of the N. Tryon Corridor. I wholeheartedly believe that if Tompkins Hall becomes a catalyst for the area around optimist park, the land between uptown and optimist park will fill in and become a little more cohesive. Though there are 0 cohesive transitions between uptown and its surrounding area, unfortunately.

If they choose this site for the soccer stadium (and do something with Church St.), that will be where the stadium begins (not advocating for this site necessarily, just pointing that out).

I was going to point that out, but I want to ignore the possibility, as the last thing uptown needs is a 4th sports facility to take up developable land. I'm on the Memorial Stadium or bust team. Unless they found a way to put it around Optimist Park/NoDa

This times 100. I'm glad someone else thought the same. I had wondered if somewhere in NoDa, off one of the BLE stops, was a possibility for the MLS stadium. It should 100% not be inside the 277 loop. We already have 3 sports facilities there on a limited footprint.

Other neighborhoods need the catalyst of the MLS Stadium. Uptown does not. The only catalyst that area of uptown needs is Daniel Levine to get off his lazy fudging ass.

How in the heck could that be done? Aside from neighborhood opposition (would be fervent, for sure), that's a lot of land needed.

It would have to be on the N Tryon or Graham St side, though obviously that takes transit out of the picture. Maybe around Extravaganza/Amtrak station area? Memorial stadium is the only one that makes sense.

Hence the "Unless they found a way."
