It's bad enough SC's legislators slapped up the Confederate across the street. A restaurant called High Cotton there would be just a bit too much.

Really? Almost all Northerners I've taken to High Cotton love the name, food and attitude.....they have also been charmed by the explanation of what "High Cotton" means as they had no clue. All in all, High Cotton is a very positive experience for 95%.

I watch what I eat and most of their food had sauces, etc, and their salad options were pretty limited. My reasons for wanting something else there were purely personal.

High Cotton was more than a rumor. I spoke with owner way back when the "rumor" surfaced and he confirmed that they were trying to work the deal. I guess it never came to fruition. When I speak with him again, I will try to gain some insight. And for the record, I really enjoy High Cotton. Its one of my fav restaurants in DT Charleston.

I guess I should have said the talk of High Cotton was "speculation" from the start.
