Proposed leveling of the Birmingham Board of Education (BOE) building

Mayor Langford has proposed another razing/leveling of another public facility, this one is the Birmingham Board of Education (BOE) building on Park Place. This would involve the selling of the property allowing the BOE to purchase and move to soon-to-be vacated Social Security Building next to the BJCC. But once again, the reprehensible BOE has said, "We're not just going to let him take our building. We're not just going to let him or anyone else manipulate us."

Like they haven't already manipulated and driven the Birmingham School District into the ground by keeping their "friends" on the district's payroll doing nothing. <_<

I actually commend the Mayor on this proposal as they are just wasting space on Park Place with that run-down building and it could be used for much more better uses in the private sector. Does anybody remember the Orlando-based hotel operator proposing a Westin Grand Bohemian hotel for this exact parcel?

This would mean more potential hotel rooms in the City Center which means Birmingham would be more capable of hosting more major events (conventions and sports) @ the BJCC.

Regardless, the BOE needs to move.
