Vision Hospitality Group Inc. is proposing to erect a hotel with penthouse condominiums at 10 Cherokee Blvd. in North Chattanooga.

The development will be located next to Bridgeview Condos, at the corner of Cherokee and Market.

The variance would allow the hotel to be 5 stories plus a penthouse. The planning commission has delayed the ruling until January. The commission wants to see how the building will look on the lot as well as against the buildings adjacent to it. Items specifically requested to be illustrated are parking, landscaping, lighting and dumpsters.

Outcome of planning meeting:

The hotel would be built at 10 Cherokee Blvd. The current plan has five stories, plus a penthouse floor. The ground floor would have retail outlets. There would be about 75 luxury hotel rooms and 15 residential condos.

The design of the building is 73 feet high, just under the allowable height of 75 feet set by the city. The nearby Bridge-View building is designed at 70 feet and 9 inches, he said.

Between 30 and 35 parking spaces are planned behind the hotel on the site of the former Roper manufacturing plant. The parking lot is sealed against contaminants in the soil and is unsuitable for construction, he said. The building itself will sit on a parcel of land that once was a road (Manufacturers before intersection was redesigned at Cherokee Blvd. Each of the residential units will have parking spaces in the lot. There was an interesting article in today's Chattanooga Times Free Press on the great amenities that downtown Chattanooga has to offer and how they are attracting many people to live in the downtown today Chattanooga area. There are now nearly 1,300 downtown condos that are either completed or under construction, and there seems to be no slowdown in sight to the development. Below is a link to the article.

Times Free Press Article

Below is a recent aerial shot of all the condo construction going on in the North Shore area. In the front left side of the picture is the Two Northshore retail development project which includes a Greenlife Grocery and several other retail stores. At the lower right side is One Northshore which boasts 200 units, seven floors and two buildings. The building under construction behind One Northshore is Bridgeview, a $30 Million four story condo project. The Vision hospitality hotel/condo project would be built between the Bridgeview and One Northshore projects. The project under construction in the back is a four story condo / retail project on Frazier. Pretty impressive!
