The state is looking into fidning a private developer who can make use of nearly 300 acres on Lake Hartwell (State Park). Its uses will include a golf course, convention center, lodge and cabins.

This would be something big for Fair Play, southern Oconee County, and Lake Hartwell in adding a major resort or development.

Anderson County has sought a developer for almost the exact same specks... only they put their call for proposals out about 6 months ago. I think proposals are due in AC in January. I wonder if anyone will propose anything. Anderson has had three or four BIG developments near the lake fall through in recent years. In my opinion, part of the problem is the political climate. Perhaps Oconee can benefit from Anderson's lack of vision.

I have a hard time seeing two of these develop at the same time.
