Hi All, I'm the newest Newb on the site (5 min now) and after looking around and seeing how everyone has significant knowledge of the local areas I thought I would put it out there as to what you thought about the development of Poplar Point, both with or without Victor MacFarlane and DC United

Welcome to the site. I'm not really in favor of more publicly funded sports venues. Washington has its hands full with the Nationals and their expensive new stadium right now. If this can be developed with private money, so much the better. What are your thoughts?

I think we should have the United stadium there. No matter what goes there, the developer will want public funds to deal with the infrastructure. And the other options will help Anacostia, but will not turn it into a destination. Sure, building some condos, a movie theatre and a grocery store will help, but the same stuff would be incorporated into the United plan which would have a stadium and practice facility and it would bring people into the area who wouldn't be there normally.
