Muscogee County School District (Columbus) is planning a Special Local Option Sales Tax vote in September. No word yet what all they plan to ask to do with the SPLOST revenue. Presumably they plan to add schools in anticipation of BRAC immigrants. However, there's no reliable analysis yet to say where soldiers with kids will live and therefore school.

CSU planning a satellite campus in one of those quaint old buildings in downtown West Point. They're expanding the in-state tuition to include Chambers County in Alabama (it already includes Lee and Russell). CSU is working with West GA Tech in Lagrange to create a pipeline for students to continue on to a four-year program. On a side note, CSU is also preparing for its first doctoral degree via the business college. Article here in Lagrange Daily News.

University of Phoenix building a new Columbus Campus

The University of Phoenix is building a new Columbus Campus off Double Churches road overlooking JR Allen Parkway. The new 32,000 sq ft school is expected to be finished with construction by the end of the year. University of Phoenix already has 2 Columbus Campus one on Hamilton Road near Manchester Expressway and the Brookstone Adult Learning Center in Brookstone Centre near Bradley Park Drive.

In addition to the UofP building a new campus Virgina College is looking to build a new Columbus Campus they would be new to the market. A location has been found but school officials won't say where just yet it is believed to be near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Williams Road though. this comes on the heels of two other for profit schools opening in the city last year Strayer University opened up on Veterans Parkway and Miller-Motte Technical opened on Box Road.

It will be a nice building overlooking the parkway. Too bad it couldn't be 5 or 6 stories.
