Environmentally... er, Fashionably Conscious

In the recent Time's article, How to Decorate Like An Emir, we see exactly where the oil we consume for our vehicles ends up: on our President's desk. Anyone find that interesting and or gaudy :sick: ? It's nice to know that, even though our environment is dying, the Prez will look good.

I was interpreting the article more from a transportation/environment issue which gets talked about often on here. I thought the relationship between our consuption of resources and their cultures was fascinating. I guess I could be wrong and should have put this topic in the Michigan forum, but I just thought it'd be an interesting discussion.

The point of the article wasn't Bush, almost every head of state that visits a foreign country gets some sort of gaudy gift of sorts. The point of the article was about how the countries in the Middle East are not democratic and trying to relate that fact to their oil wealth.
