Huntsville city hall complex

This forum has been a bit quiet lately. Maybe this will spur some discussion.

As you've probably heard, the city is exploring possibilities on what to do about this building. It has been plagued with expensive repairs over the years, and is in need of some more. Options seem to be repair it again or to build a new one elsewhere. The article lists a couple alternative sites... One being the parking lot across from the post office, and the other being where Constellation is being built(!?!?). It also mentioned that if a new complex is built, the current city hall land might be incorporated into Big Spring Park.

Personally, I've always liked the current City hall complex. The design still looks very classy and modern despite being 45 years old. Now if only the courthouse had been built up to these standards... Man that building is ugly.

Thoughts?

Well, the huntsville area is seriously lacking in $350K-$500K condos downtown (with a restaurant on the top floor), this would be a great location for some.

Why does city hall need to take up valuable downtown real estate? How about that old Brunos site at Oakwood and the Parkway?
