Created by the World Wildlife Fund in order to take a stand against perhaps the greatest threat our planet has faced in recorded history, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

Last March, the residents and businesses of Sydney, AU turned off their lights for one hour

Sounds like an incredible movement.

1. What about time zone differences?

2. What about the huge energy spike when so many turn their lights back on after an hour at the same time?

3. I bet that would make for an awesome picture from the space station.

1. It's done in your local time zone

2. There wasn't a big spike in Sydney; most lights simply stayed off (mostly in residential areas)

3. Agreed. You can search youtube for videos for a time lapse of the Sydney skyline during the event. Pretty cool.
