An Evening at the Grand Rapids Art Museum

Join the AIAGV on a tour of the recently completed Grand Rapids Art Museum, which is the first newly-constructed, LEED-certified art museum in the world.

This commitment to environmental stewardship is evidenced throughout the building, from its innovative water collection system that reduces the demand for city treated water by 20 percent, to the museum's use of natural daylight for 70 percent of its internal lighting. The museum also strengthens the core of downtown Grand Rapids and forms a bond between the city fabric, outdoor courtyards and the Maya Lin Park.

This after hours private tour will be co-conducted by architect Doug Smith of Design Plus and Shane Napper of Rockford Construction. These gentlemen were intimately involved in the design and construction of this world-class facility and will be able to share some of the great details and maybe some side stories regarding its short history.

Tour Date: Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Tour Time: 6pm to 8pm (doors will be open at 5:45pm)

Tour Price: Free to members. $15.00 non-members

RSVP at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/95190718 Pay at the door.

This exclusive tour is open to AIAGV professionals, associates, affiliates and their guests and will allow participants to familiarize themselves with the museum in preparation for another special event being conducted by the GRAM at their Friday Night Series on March 21 at 7:00pm. At this lecture, Yo Hakamori of wHY Architects will be speaking about his design of the new museum.

Come visit this great project with us!! While no food or beverages will be provided during the tour, because the museum is technically closed, you can enjoy the plethora of great dining venues in downtown Grand Rapids, many within walking distance of the GRAM.
